Making professional handwriting assessment accessible to every family and school
Too many children struggle with handwriting without anyone understanding why. Parents sense something is not quite right; teachers see children falling behind but lack tools to identify who needs support. By the time difficulties are recognised, they have often become entrenched.
We believe every child deserves to have their handwriting development understood. More Handwriting is building AI-powered assessment tools that make professional-quality screening accessible, affordable, and instant – giving parents and educators the insights they need to help every child thrive.
Our tools are grounded in developmental research. We do not make claims the science does not support, and we are transparent about what our assessments can and cannot tell you.
We provide understanding, not worry. Knowing where your child is on their developmental journey helps you support them – it is not a prediction of their future.
Professional assessment should not be a privilege. We are committed to keeping our tools affordable and available to families and schools regardless of their resources.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Yvette has worked extensively with schools and colleges across London – from classroom teaching to senior quality assurance roles.
This frontline experience showed her how many children struggle with handwriting without receiving the support they need. Teachers often lack the time and specialist tools to identify difficulties early, and families face long waiting lists for professional assessments.
More Handwriting grew from Yvette's determination to bridge this gap. By combining AI technology with developmental research, she is building tools that give parents and educators the insights they need – without the cost and delay of traditional assessments.
Yvette also runs More Curricular, an education business delivering heritage walks, workshops and exhibitions with schools, community groups and councils across London.

We take research seriously. Our Starter tool assesses writing-drawing differentiation – a cognitive milestone that researchers have studied for decades. Understanding when children begin to distinguish writing from drawing gives us a window into their developing understanding of symbolic systems.
But we are also honest about what research can and cannot tell us. We describe our assessments as providing insight into development, not predictions about the future. Every child develops at their own pace, and our role is to help parents and educators understand where a child is now – so they can provide the right support.
Our tools draw on research from developmental psychology and early literacy, including the work of Ferreiro & Teberosky on children's early concepts about writing, and studies showing how drawing and writing development interconnect in the early years.
